Despite several Brooklyn Nets players claiming they had prior knowledge that Kevin Durant was signing with them, Joe Harris claims he was unaware of the impending free-agency decision of KD.

Speaking on the “Pardon My Take” podcast (h/t Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily), Harris mentioned that they expected Kyrie Irving's arrival. However, he pointed out that Durant's decision was made in the ‘last minute.”

“The stuff with KD was pretty last minute, but Kyrie we all kind of had an idea he was gonna come to Brooklyn,” Harris explained

The 6-foot-6 sharpshooting guard, who is entering his fourth season with the Brooklyn franchise, also joked about his involvement in a fictitious pitch on the part of the Nets.

“Oh, Joe Harris was all about the recruitment,” Harris said sarcastically. “No, I didn’t take any part in the recruitment. I let the other guys kind of the bulk of that stuff. I do know Kyrie [and] you do talk through the course of the year.”

The Nets signed the All-Star trio of Irving, Durant and DeAndre Jordan this offseason. Durant, however, isn't expected to play in 2019-20 as he is still rehabilitating from a ruptured Achilles he suffered in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

Durant was acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Golden State Warriors who, in return, received one-time All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell.

Irving, meanwhile, is a New Jersey native who signed with rapper Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports in June — one month before the former Boston Celtics floor general came to terms with a four-year contract with the Nets.
