Looking at Kevin Durant's social media, he might not come off as a leader type of player. If you ask his Team USA teammates, however, the Brooklyn Nets star is doing that part perfectly.

In fact, according to Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal, a recent speech from the Nets  forward stuck in his mind and the rest of Team USA.

“He said something very unique today. He said ‘be special. That’s why we’re here.' And that stuck on to me. So hopefully, we can keep that mentality and understand that we’re here for a reason,” Bradley Beal said during the Team USA camp on Wednesday, per Nets Daily.

Beal also described Durant's leadership as “terrific,” noting that they look up to him to “push” and “lead” the squad. After all, KD is the most decorated player on the squad, having won gold in 2010 FIBA World Championship and in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics in London and Rio de Janeiro, respectively.

“His leadership is terrific. He’s 39-0 in USA basketball and that’s crazy. We definitely want to keep that going. It speaks volumes for him to be 10+ years in the league and still wanting to come back and be a part of this prestigious fraternity. We definitely look up to him to push us and lead us, but at the same time, he’s very unselfish. He’s very encouraging. He wants everyone to do well.” the Wizards guard said of the Nets forward.

For what it's worth, Kevin Durant's leadership is often overlooked. While he is partly to blame for that due to his penchant for responding to social media trolls, there is no denying that he knows when he needs to get to work.

Even though he seems to be a player who leads by example, Bradley Beal made it clear that KD can also be vocal. Hopefully, Nets fans get to see that side of Durant more in the next NBA season.
