The Los Angeles Rams missed out on the playoffs in 2019-20, and that has made head coach Sean McVay motivated for next season. McVay said he is the most motivated he has been since he first got to the team before the 2017 season.
“I’m excited and motivated and, really, I would say more rejuvenated and reinvigorated than I’ve ever been since I first got here,” said McVay, the recipient of a contract extension before last season, via Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.
McVay is back for next season, but there are some other big changes to the coaching staff. offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, and special-teams coordinator John Bonameg were all hired this offseason. He is excited about all the new hires, but he pointed out Staley, who was ultra-impressive during the interview.

Staley said there will be some changes made, but for the most part, there is going to be a lot of carryover from what Wade Phillips had done.
“There will be a lot of carryover,” Staley said, when asked whether he would install a 3-4 or a 4-3, adding, “There’s none of those wholesale changes that happen at other places.
“So, I think there will be a comfort level there with the players knowing they are going to be doing a lot of the same things, but maybe schematically, situationally, technically, there may be some nuances.”
This is all nice talk during the offseason, but there is a lot of pressure on the entire coaching staff to deliver. If it's another disappointing season next year, there could be some more big-time changes made on the coaching staff.
