The Denver Nuggets had a very impressive 2018-19 season which saw them earn the second-best record in the loaded Western Conference. And although they weren't able to win the title, they still have a very bright future. And veteran forward Will Barton wants to be a part of that.

Barton only played 43 games for the Nuggets last season as he dealt with a hamstring injury. And although he's already participating in the team's training camp in preparation for this season, he admitted that he's still feeling a little bit deflated, per Denver Post's Mike Singer.

“Definitely a little deflating, coming off an injury-plagued season last year. The good thing is I feel good when I’m out there, I’m real confident, I’m not really holding back very much. Doing the things I like to do. Got a good rhythm, so not too depressed, but it is a little deflating because I don’t want to hold back, I want to be able to practice fully and play fully and do everything.”

Barton averaged 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last season, a bit disappointing when you consider the fact that he was coming off a career-best 15.7 points in the Nuggets' 2017-18 campaign. Still, the 28-year-old forward believes that he can contribute significantly to the team if he's at full strength.

The Nuggets didn't make a big splash in the offseason unlike most Western Conference contenders did, but they made sure that they were able to lock up their core long-term. Barton is heading into the second year of his contract which is set to expire in the summer of 2022, and if he continues to improve health-wise, he will definitely play a vital role in Denver's championship quest.
