The Indiana Pacers need a new head coach after parting ways with Nate McMillan, who was let go following the team's first-round sweep at the hands of the Miami Heat in the 2020 playoffs.

According to Kevin O'Conner of the Ringer, Chris Finch is considered the frontrunner to be the next Pacers head coach. He has been with the New Orleans Pelicans since 2017.

The Pacers won 45 games in 2019-20. However, they were completely outmatched by Jimmy Butler and the Heat in the playoffs in Orlando, Florida.

Other than needing a new head coach, the biggest storyline in Indiana is the future of All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo. The high-flyer and the Pacers didn't agree to a contract extension before the 2019-20 season started, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason of 2021.

There have been a few rumors going around that Oladipo is upset with the Pacers and will leave the franchise in free agency. With that being said, Indiana must hire the right head coach and appease Oladipo to avoid losing him.

McMillan was a good coach with the Pacers, but the team needed a new voice after getting swept in back-to-back playoffs. Indiana lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2019 playoffs, though they played without Oladipo.

Moving forward, it's going to be very interesting to see who Indiana hires as the next leader.
