Indiana Pacers combo guard Malcolm Brogdon is optimistic about playing against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday despite having two more steps to pass as part of the NBA's concussion protocol.

Brogdon suffered a concussion on Jan. 22 against the Phoenix Suns and has missed the Pacers' previous two games:

The Pacers are 30-17 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings and will get All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo back in the lineup versus the Bulls.

In his first season with the Pacers, Brogdon is averaging 17.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He’s shooting 43.9 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 92.6 percent from the free-throw line.

In need of scoring while Oladipo rehabs his knee, the Pacers acquired Brogdon, T.J. Warren and Jeremy Lamb this past summer. All three guys have been scoring the ball well for the Pacers thus far and their jobs will get a lot easier once Oladipo gets his legs underneath him and starts playing like the All-Star he is.

Oladipo averaged 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists for the Pacers last season before he got hurt. The All-Star shot 42.3 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 73.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Oladipo has career averages of 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 402 games with the Orlando MagicOklahoma City Thunder and Pacers. Indiana fans will have to be patient once Oladipo comes back because he’s going to be rusty and there will be a few games where he struggles to mesh with his teammates.
