The New Orleans Pelicans just started the offseason trade period with the first major transaction, shipping away Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe to the Memphis Grizzlies for Jonas Valanciunas. But it looks like they aren't done just yet, with speculation swirling for a potential deal with the Indiana Pacers.

ESPN senior writer Zach Lowe sat down with NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony in his latest episode of The Lowe Post podcast, where both insiders seem to have caught wind of the Pelicans-Pacers trade whispers in a potential deal involving Lonzo Ball for Malcolm Brogdon in a sign-and-trade.

Via Lonzo Wire's Michael Mulford:

“Have you heard anything about Brogdon for Lonzo in a sign-and-trade?” Jonathan Givony of ESPN asked.

“That’s been one of the hot rumors, that’s been one of the hot rumors,” Zach Lowe said. “Don’t know what to think of it honestly so I haven’t mentioned it because I kind of don’t know if I believe it.”

Malcolm Brogdon has been a steady figure for the Pacers during his 2-year stint in Indiana thus far. He's averaged 18.9 points and 6.5 assists in 110 games played. However, he's dealt with a few injuries here and there, while also being significantly older than Lonzo Ball. But perhaps the steadying hand of another veteran might just be what the Pelicans need.

Ball on the other hand hasn't had the same level of production as Brogdon on the court. But given he's still in his age-23 season and has yet to play his best basketball, he could be worth the gamble for a Pacers squad that's still figuring out its own identity.

We'll just have to wait and see if this Pacers-Pelicans trade comes to fruition.
