The New England Patriots won't take another dramatic hit to their receiving corps. Julian Edelman, who suffered a rib injury in Week 3, avoided major damage and should be “good” heading into Week 4, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Edelman went in for X-rays shortly after the Patriots' 30-14 Sunday win over the New York Jets; they came back negative. Following more tests and looks at the injury, Rapoport points to Edelman being okay for a big matchup against the 3-0 Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Edelman suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Week 3 game. The receiver got up gingerly favoring his chest area after taking a pair of hits from Jets defensive tackle Henry Anderson and linebacker Harvey Langi. Before then, he had turned 10 targets into seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Luckily, despite a worrying fanbase, Edelman won't be another name added to the carousel of Patriots receivers through the first month of regular season play. He, alongside Josh Gordon and Phillip Dorsett, figure to be constants for New England in 2019 unlike the traded Demaryius Thomas and released Antonio Brown, who both once figured to be integral pieces in the offense.

Still, Edelman likely isn't 100%, nor is Gordon (finger). The Patriots may rotate through receivers a bit more on Sunday to ensure long-term health for Tom Brady's pass-catching unit. Undrafted free agents, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski were seen in New England's offense after injuries to Edelman and Gordon; Week 4 may show more of that. The Patriots also have first-round selection N'Keal Harry, who is on the injured reserve for the first eight weeks of the season.
