It took a while but Zion Williamson finally got his chance to go up against his former Duke teammate in RJ Barrett, as the New Orleans Pelicans visited the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.

With Zion being sidelined for the majority of his rookie campaign, the former number one pick in the 2020 NBA Draft wasn't able to go face-to-face with Barrett in their teams' two games last season.

Zion had some choice words for RJ when he sat down with ESPN. When he was asked how he felt facing his former fellow Blue Devil at this point in the season, Williamson kept it real.

“Let me give an honest answer,” the Pelicans star said as he let out a chuckle. “At the end of the day, I'm happy for him. But, just like what my mom taught me, that's nice and all for him but I got my own business to handle over here.”

Zion Williamson's Pelicans did eventually fall short on Sunday, as RJ Barrett's Knicks needed an overtime period to take care of NOLA.

Zion's 34-9-5 evening was not enough as the Knicks continue their impressive stretch, winning their last six outings to help them cement their spot in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff race. Barrett did foul out of this one, but he still put up 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting in 36 minutes of play.

Zion has been all business over these past few weeks. After all, he's trying to help the Pelicans book a trip to the postseason. They're now a couple of games away from a potential spot in the upcoming play-in tournament.
