The Toronto Raptors expanded their lead in their first-round playoffs series against the Washington Wizards with a comprehensive 130-109 victory at home.

The Raptors were simply too much for Washington, which was once again overpowered by Toronto’s offense much like it did in Game 1 when the Raps took a 114-106 win. The difference between Game 1’s win and Game 2’s triumph for Toronto is that in the latter game, the Raptors played as though they were trying to rewrite basketball history. To some degree, they did, but only from the franchise’s perspective.

The writings were on the wall early in the contest that the game would not end well for Washington. When the Raptors poured in 44 points right in the opening period, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks was probably already gearing up to run through the whole assortment of Shaqtin’ a Fool coaches’ reactions – again. More than that, it also set a new franchise playoffs record for the Raptors for most points in a quarter, shattering the previous mark of 39 points, per Basketball Reference.

The Raptors would cool down a little bit in the second quarter, but they still managed to put up 32 points, giving the team 76 points in the first half, easily covering the previous team record of 62 points in a half.

Lastly, the Raptors’ 130 points in Game 2 were the most the team has scored in a playoff game ever.

It was also remarkable that the Raptors were able to set those records even with Kyle Lowry going on a disappearing act for the second game in a row. After scoring just 11 points in Game 1, Lowry put up 13 points on 3-for-10 shooting in Game 2.

Nevertheless, the Raptors have definitely made their mark in this series, and they are hoping their offensive touch will carry over into Game 3 in Washington this Friday.
