The Philadelphia 76ers got completely destroyed at home by Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets in what turned out to be an anti-climactic matchup. This battle between two favorites from the Eastern Conference was built up as a potential classic as both teams looked to make a statement. Imagine the disappointment of Sixers fans as the Nets blew them out from wire to wire, with the game ending with a final score of 129-100.

Sixers superstar James Harden hit the nail on the head with his post-game comments. The former league MVP had no excuses for his team's poor performance and he got brutally honest with his assessment (h/t Tim Bontemps of ESPN):

“Tonight was good for us,” Harden said. “We got our ass kicked.”

Despite the unfiltered honesty, Harden is clearly taking a silver-lining type of approach here. This was the first time the Sixers lost with both himself and Joel Embiid playing. The fact that they suffered defeat in such a disappointing fashion — against the Nets, no less — is a hard lesson for this new-look Philly side. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but it's a lesson nonetheless.

These two teams are not slated to face off against one another again in the regular season. This fact only makes a potential seven-game playoff series between these two star-studded squads all the more mouthwatering.
