The Brooklyn Nets just embarrassed the Philadelphia 76ers in their own home court. Kevin Durant and Co. came firing right out the gate and they never looked back, cruising to a 129-100 blowout win in what was supposed to be a highly competitive matchup between two of the favorites in the East.

The biggest narrative surrounding Thursday's matchup was Ben Simmons' return to Philly after forcing his way out of the team just several weeks ago. As expected, the savage home crowd gave the former Rookie of the Year a raucous welcome in his return to his former stomping ground. Their mood quickly changed, though, as they slowly accepted their team's fate in this ballgame and the crowd (at least those that stayed to see out the blowout) got real quiet towards the end.

This was exactly what Kevin Durant had in mind when he sent out a special message to the Sixers fans during his post-game interview:

“He already knew we had his back,” KD said of Simmons, “but it just felt good to quiet all of them down mid-way through the game. It was very quiet towards the end. We ain't hear no more Ben Simmons chants from the Sixers fans. There's more Nets fans in here than anything so it was good.”

Kevin Durant is a savage man. Both on and off the court. Notice how he even glanced at the stands while he was making his statement as if to say, “Where are them Sixers fans now?”

KD dominated Philly in this one, scoring a team-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, to go along with 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block in 32 minutes of action. Maybe his heated squabble with Joel Embiid early in the game helped fire him up, too. Then again, this is Kevin Durant we're talking about here and this man doesn't really need much motivation to get going.

KD's statement here definitely won't sit well with Philly supporters who were hoping to see much more from their team here. What we can say for sure is that this has now developed into a full-blown rivalry between two of the best teams in the NBA today.
