Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Fabinho will be available for the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final against Real Madrid later this month.

Fabinho limped off during the first half of Liverpool’s recent 2-1 Premier League away win over Aston Villa. It was later revealed that the Brazilian international came away from the contest with a muscle injury.

There was early optimism that Fabinho did not suffer a season-ending injury earlier this week, as the Brazilian national team opted to call him up for its friendly fixtures next month. Brazil national team physical trainer Fabio Mahseredjian did note that the Selecao was optimistic that the veteran midfielder would be cleared in time for the clash with Real Madrid.

While Fabinho has been ruled out from the Reds’ 2022 FA Cup Final against Chelsea, Klopp did add during a pre-match press conference that the midfielder will receive the green light to play in the Champions League final.

“He will definitely be back for the [Champions League] final,” Klopp said.

“[He is] absolutely OK. Fab is a professional, he was obviously not happy about it, that’s clear, but he took it and is already taking on the fight against time, if you want. That’s how it is.”

Fabinho has emerged as a reliable, workhorse midfielder for the German manager this season, which includes 29 appearances so far in Premier League play.

For now, it remains to be seen on whether Fabinho may make an early return to action for Liverpool’s final matches of the league campaign against both Southampton and Wolverhampton.
