The 31-year-old forward was efficient from three-point range, shooting nearly 40 percent. While Patterson’s role on the court decreased in the playoffs last season, his veteran presence played an integral role in the locker room.</p><p>Patterson, who will be entering his 12th season in the NBA, will most likely be an insurance option player for the Clippers this season in case of injury. This past season, Patterson always seemed to be ready when called in by Doc Rivers.</p><p>As for the Clippers, this is their first signing of the offseason. The Clippers are set to have a busy offseason, having numerous players hit the open market this free agency. The Clippers have been rumoured to re-sign Marcus Morris Sr., Montrezl Harrell and JaMychal Green this offseason, however, if they re-sign all three, they most likely have the taxpayer mid-level exception available. Conditioning wise we had guys who couldn’t play minutes,” Rivers shared, via <a href="https://twitter.com/MarcJSpears/status/1306079423825940480">Spears</a>.</blockquote><p>Lou Williams suggested the team did not have the “<a href="https://twitter.com/MarcJSpears/status/1306080609677307905">chemistry</a>” to win the title, a storyline that has followed the Clippers all year.</p><p><a href="https://theathletic.com/1557316/2020/01/23/chemistry-setting-behind-the-scenes-of-kawhi-leonard-and-the-clippers-merging-culture/">Jovan Buha and Sam Amick of The Athletic</a> first reported some of the internal issues L.A. was grappling with back in January. Apparently, these issues <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-paul-george-montrezl-harrell-heated-spat-during-game-2-loss-nuggets/">resurfaced</a> in Game 2 against the Nuggets when Montrezl Harrell reportedly got into it with Paul George.</p><p>There is plenty of noise surrounding L.A.’s failure to close. The Clippers were expected to make the Western Conference Finals, if not win the NBA championship. Unfortunately, they lost multiple double-digit leads in the final three games of the series — with the Paul George-Kawhi Leonard duo even going scoreless in the fourth quarter of Game 7.</p><p>Patrick Patterson is hardly a pivotal rotation player. He logged under 10 minutes in two playoff games. Patterson explained that these workouts have been going well so far. “Team workouts have been going well,” Patterson said. “The guys have been staying on top of their condition and working during this time.”</p><p><a href="https://www.talkbasket.net/81678-lou-williams-says-kawhi-leonard-talks-the-most-in-clippers-group-chat">Just recently</a>, Clippers guard Lou Williams revealed that Kawhi Leonard is the most talkative in the team’s group chat. It’s quite surprising since Leonard is known to be a quiet person. However, Patterson confirmed it was true. “Yes, Kawhi is the most active in our group chat,” Patterson said.</p><p>To finish off the interview, Patterson revealed his favorite memory in his NBA career and with the Clippers so far. “My favorite memory in my NBA career is me being drafted with my family around me,” Patterson said. “And with the Clippers, I have too many favorite memories to just choose one, on and off the court. However, we had a good time bowling.”</p><p>Before the season suspended, the Clippers were having one of their best seasons in franchise history. The highly-anticipated match, however, was canceled in the wake of the shocking passing of Kobe Bryant and eight others who was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-kobe-bryant-killed-helicopter-crash/" rel="noopener noreferrer">involved in a tragic helicopter crash</a>.</p><p>The entire league was left devastated by his death, especially the Lakers franchise which Bryant called home for 20 seasons.</p><p>Patterson’s seemingly insensitive comments, for sure, will leave a bad taste in the entire Lakers organization. The league has already received flak for not canceling the scheduled games on the day of Bryant’s passing.</p><p>Allowing the Lakers-Clippers match to push through that day just won’t make sense for a multitude of reasons.</p><p>Patrick Patterson, meanwhile, is on his first season with the Clips after signing a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the team over the summer. He is averaging modest numbers of <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pattepa01.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">4.9 points</a> and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 39.9 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from three in 45 appearances this season.</p><p>The 6-foot-8 forward has missed LA’s last three games due to injury. Former superstar big man Dwight Howard is playing that role now and he’s done a solid job.</p><p>Cousins, who is a four-time All-Star, has career averages of <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/couside01.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">21.2 points</a>, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists with the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors. Boogie tore his left quad in the first round of the 2019 playoffs with the Warriors versus the Clippers, but he was able to play in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors where the Dubs lost in six games.</p><p>His’ injury woes began in 2018, when he tore his left Achilles with the Pelicans. He was actually on track to sign a lucrative contract in the summer of 2018 before the injury happened.</p><p>The Clippers are championship contenders with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the way. They also picked up Marcus Morris at the trade deadline from the New York Knicks and Reggie Jackson from the Detroit Pistons <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-news-reggie-jackson-gets-buyout-from-pistons-plans-to-sign-with-clippers/" rel="noopener noreferrer">via the buyout market</a>.</p><p>It’s unclear if deMarcus Cousins will be even medically cleared to play this season, but Patrick Patterson doesn’t seem to care.
