One of the greatest players in San Antonio Spurs basketball history, David Robinson, isn't afraid to speak for the franchise and claim his interest in having a player like Kyrie Irving in a Spurs uniform this upcoming season.

“We'd be crazy not to want a talented guy like that,” Robinson told Sirius XM NBA Radio. “He's been a force for the (Cleveland Cavaliers).”

“With our system, I can't really speculate… I certainly think you add a guy like that to a system that can enhance his impact in the game and make him more efficient.”

Irving's move to the Spurs puts the team in an even more complicated process than acquiring Chris Paul prior to the start of free agency, as San Antonio has already committed to signings and don't have the cap room flexibility to offer Cleveland anything substantial in return.

The 25-year-old is known as an unrivaled one-on-one talent, a practice that plays far apart from Gregg Popovich's teachings throughout his 20-year tenure with the franchise.

While Irving represents a major upgrade to nearly almost every NBA team, his reasons for leaving the Cavs make him a rather poor fit with the Spurs, given how he wants to run his own team.
