After San Antonio Spurs star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge went down with a sprained ankle during the second quarter of Wednesday night's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, there was doubt as to when exactly he would return. Luckily, Spurs veteran point guard Tony Parker told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News that he believes Aldridge has a decent shot at being active for Saturday night's home game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“In addition to his ankle injury, LaMarcus Aldridge also has a shoulder ailment, according to Tony Parker. But, TP added that it's ‘nothing serious' and that he could play against the Lakers on Saturday night,” Orsborn tweeted on Friday.

Parker continued to say that despite the fact the injury bug has hit the Spurs hard this season, they will continue to fight towards the finish in a highly-competitive Western Conference playoff race.

“For so many years, we have been so healthy, so I can’t complain,” Parker said. “For the Spurs, we have been pretty lucky for the last 15, 16 years. We just have to keep fighting, keep believing and stick with it.”

Despite their recent stretch of poor play and squandered leads, the Spurs (36-26) are currently tied with the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 4 seed.

Losing Aldridge to injury really has to sting, considering the team has already been without superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard for all but nine games this season. The star forward continues to be the Spurs' go-to guy during Leonard’s absence and is averaging a team-high 22.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocked shots per game.
