Pittsburgh Steelers guard Ramon Foster is the teams player representative for the NFLPA, and he is on board for expanding the playoff. Most of the talk has been about an expanded regular season which most of the players aren't for, but Foster thinks that rewarding more teams by putting them in the playoffs would be good.

“I’m all for expanding the playoffs,” Foster said via Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Reward the teams that get the opportunity to do good.

“I would look forward to expanding the playoffs more than I would 18 (regular-season) games.”

Foster doesn't have a specific proposal on how he wants to get it done but thinks adding more teams would improve the product on the field and also could mean less wear and tear during the regular season.

“I’m more quality over quantity at this point,” Foster said.

There has been talk about the NFL cutting down on preseason games and expanding the regular season, but Foster thinks those preseason games are still vital for younger players. Younger guys use all four games to try to prove that they belong on the roster and if a couple of the preseason games are cut, that means fewer chances for those guys to prove why they belong on the field.

There has been a lot of chatter about expanding the regular season and not much talk about expanding the playoffs, but maybe by expanding the playoffs there can be more games, and that could be a good middle ground the two sides could agree on.
