While the product on the court leaves fans and players questioning what constitutes as a foul, Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker wonders the same thing at the post-game microphone.

While speaking to reporters following the Suns' 111-101 loss Sunday in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Dallas Mavericks, Booker was asked what he's allowed to say without receiving a fine from the NBA. Just like the fans wondering what in the world Booker did to earn this first-quarter technical, he had no idea. The Suns guard even used an old adage from two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“That's a great question. That's a great question. I don't know either,” Booker said. “That's what I don't know. What did Giannis say, ‘I dont want the $20-$25[k] coming my way'. That's the way they can scare you.”

Booker seems to be hinting at fear tactics coming from the NBA in regards to its public perception. NBA officiating has had a far from positive reception in the playoffs thus far and the NBA hasn't shied away from dishing out fines to coaches and players that speak out. The Suns likely will be no exception.

While Booker hesitated from speaking out too aggressively, something slipped out that could see a financial penalty gracing his next paycheck.

“It was a different type game — a different energy — I mean starting off the game [with] foul trouble. Techs for no reason,” he said.

Regardless of how legitimate the calls were or not, this series is 2-2 now. The series has turned into a best-of-three and they're going to keep playing how they play.

“We're just going to play our game. That's Phoenix Suns basketball,” Booker said. “We're going to play all the way through the clock no matter if we feel the refs are against us or not. We're going to keep playing.”
