After being included in the package that the Milwaukee Bucks sent last week in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, Greg Monroe may already debut for the Phoenix Suns as early as Thursday, when they host the Houston Rockets.

This is a surprising development in the 6-foot-11 big man, as there have been rumors about him not suiting up for his new team because of the possibility of reaching a buyout with them. However, that does not seem to be the path they want to take with him anymore, as the Suns may want to see first how Monroe fits in with the team.

Greg Monroe has only played five games so far this season, and averaged 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 15.8 minutes per game. It’s no secret that the Bucks were ready to part ways with him as early as last season, as he was not receiving consistent playing time anymore. Now in Phoenix, he could emerge as a key player in their rotation, should he be able to regain his old form.

It remains to be seen how Greg Monroe will perform with the Suns, but if he proves that he can co-exist well with his new teammates, he may be an intriguing prospect for them, and could make their front office opt to keep him instead.
