Jamal Crawford is one of the most respected veterans in the NBA, but he remains unsigned as the season approaches. Perhaps the Phoenix Suns — a team in a major transitional period — are interested in bringing in the 18-year veteran. Justin Parham of News 21 and Cronkite News captured a video of Crawford in Talking Stick Resort Arena — the Suns' home arena.

Could Crawford be the band-aid the Suns are looking to put on their guard rotation? Devin Booker is still working his way back from hand surgery. He shouldn't be out for very long, but without him, the Suns are weak at the position.

After trading Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss to the Houston Rockets for Ryan Anderson and De'Anthony Melton, Phoenix began its search for a suitable starting point guard. That search remains fruitless, and it may have played into the recent firing of general manager Ryan McDonough.

Crawford isn't a point guard, but he can handle the ball. He's more of a pure scorer to be used on the second unit, but he could offer some relief to Phoenix's unenviable situation at point guard. Crawford is definitely slowing down. He averaged 10.3 points on around 20 minutes per game last season.

Although he can definitely give some added depth at the guard position, he's not the long-term answer by any stretch. He's more of a stop-gap until the Suns find a point guard to play alongside Booker. Until then, a healthy Booker will probably have more ballhandling responsibilities.

No deal appears to be imminent between Crawford and Phoenix, but it is interesting to see the two sides may be meeting.
