Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul now owns the record for the third-most assists in NBA history, toppling Steve Nash from the spot that he held for so many years.

Of course Nash was in disbelief after Paul broke his record, so much so that he could only utter two words after being informed of the historic feat–albeit jokingly.

It sure looks like Steve Nash is simply happy with his fellow point guard and NBA 75th Team Anniversary member. The current Brooklyn Nets coach might have some regrets not adding to his tally, but it's not really that surprising for Chris Paul to surpass the mark given how incredible he has been throughout his career.

As Nash said it, Paul is “one of the best point guards we ever had” and its certain by now that he'd increase his tally even more before he retired. CP3 is only behind John Stockton and Jason Kidd on the NBA all-time assists list, and if he is able to stay in the NBA for a couple more years, the Suns veteran could surely make a run for the top spot.

Individual accolades aside, Paul has bigger fish to fry at the moment as he looks to lead Phoenix back to the NBA Finals. They fell short in 2020-21 after falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in the finale, and so the Suns are hungrier than ever to replicate their past success and get the job done.
