Former Phoenix Sun point guard and NBA legend Steve Nash has just been recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

After spending 18 seasons and averaging 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in 1217 career games played, with numerous awards to boot, recognizing Nash with his honor comes as little surprise to fans.

After all, this is the same guy who helped Mike D’Antoni make the seven-seconds-or-less offense a trend, ultimately revolutionizing the game of basketball, as we know it.

Despite this high-octane system that they ran for 10 seasons, though, one of the most amazing things about Nash was how efficient he still was.

According to Justin Kubatko of Stat Muse, the former NBA two-time Most Valuable Player holds the record for most 50-40-90 seasons in history.

As you may know, this prestigious club is comprised of players who have maintained shooting percentages of 50 percent in field goals, 40 percent from beyond the 3-point line, and 90 percent on free throws for an entire season.

Only seven players in the league’s history have gained access into this group and Nash, astoundingly, has done this feat four times – all as the court general for the Suns.

This nugget of information is only one of many reasons Steve Nash is an all-time NBA great and has undoubtedly left his personal mark on this game. Hopefully, data like these will inspire future generations that quantity not always translates to quality and that basketball, when played efficiently, is a thing of beauty.
