The Oklahoma City Thunder have hit their stride and are slowly climbing up the Western Conference standings. And they have done so by recording the second-best record to the Golden State Warriors since the start of December.

Since December 1, the Thunder have a record of 22-8 as the team that was put together during the summer to compete for a championship started to mesh.

With a 30-20 record, the Thunder are currently only a half a game behind the fourth-place Minnesota Timberwolves and only two games behind the third-place San Antonio Spurs.

Russell Westbrook was joined by Paul George and Carmelo Anthony before the start of the season. The Thunder were expected to be at or near the top of the Western Conference, challenging not only the Warriors, but the Spurs and the Houston Rockets as well.

But OKC suffered through chemistry issues as the team struggled through an 8-12 start from October to November.

Westbrook is leading the way for the Thunder as the dynamic point guard has been tearing up defenses night in and night out. This January alone, Westbrook is averaging a triple-double with 27.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 10.6 assists, and 1.8 steals.

Oklahoma is currently on an eight-game winning streak ahead of their match-up with the Washington Wizards. In their last meeting, the Thunder defeated the Wizards 121-112 with Westbrook leading the way with 46 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. This was the game in which Westbrook thought he was chosen last by LeBron James in the All-Star Game.

The Thunder will look to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games this Tuesday at home against the Washington Wizards.
