It has been over two months since Jimmy Butler successfully forced his way out of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it's still one of the most controversial narratives of the season.

Timberwolves veteran guard Derrick Rose, who himself was a firsthand witness to all the drama, shared his thoughts on the matter, via ESPN's Jackie MacMullan:

“I wouldn't say Jimmy is missing that chip,” explained Rose. “But maybe Jimmy has room to improve with that. He's young too. I get both sides. You've gotta talk to KAT a little different. Jimmy didn't really do that.”

The former MVP is being very diplomatic here by not taking any sides. Rose even went on to try and downplay the intensity of the feud between these two superstars:

“When I got here, I didn't hear anything about how they didn't like each other,” Rose says. “I didn't see the tension, but you could feel it a little bit. Then we had a meeting, and that's when I realized how bad it was [between them].

“After they aired it all out, there was actually some relief. I was very surprised by the approach KAT took. It was very mature, in a way. He let it go. He was getting criticism, his averages were low, but he didn't lash back.”

Rose's statement here confirms many reports saying that Towns refused to engage with Butler, despite the latter's incessant criticism. At the end of the day, it may have worked in Towns' favor, as he remains the Timberwolves' cornerstone star and the organization's foundation for its future.
