Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to miss multiple games after the All-Star break due to his wrist injury, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Towns underwent an MRI on Tuesday which revealed a left wrist injury. He will be further evaluated over the All-Star break:

Exactly how long Karl-Anthony Towns will be out with a left wrist injury remains unknown, but it is expected that he will miss multiple games when the Wolves resume playing after the break next week. His surprising scratch against Charlotte on Wednesday night was the latest curveball the team has had to deal with during a wild first 53 games of the season.

Towns has played in 35 games this season and is averaging a career-best 26.5 points and 10.8 rebounds in 33.9 minutes per contest.

Towns missed a bunch of games earlier in the season because of a knee injury. The former No. 1 overall pick won’t be going to the All-Star Game this season after playing in the game the last two seasons.

The Timberwolves are 16-37 on the season and in 14th place in the Western Conference standings. The playoffs are likely out of reach for the team this season, but the goal is for D'Angelo Russell and Towns to establish chemistry and rapport so that they can push the Minnesota franchise to playoff contention next season.
