Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns has given his two cents worth on the intense altercation that went down on Tuesday between teammate Gorgui Dieng and Phoenix Suns stud Devin Booker.

Instead of trying to deescalate the situation that almost turned ugly, Towns actually picked a side; and naturally, he had the back of his teammate.

I guess this is Towns just being a good teammate. Regardless of his own personal relationship with Booker, he knows he has to back his teammate, and perhaps this is exactly what he wanted to prove with his statement here. Towns has emerged as a leader in the team, and in his mind, this is what leaders ought to do in these types of situations.

Tempers went beyond boiling point on Tuesday following a chippy sequence that quickly turned into a no holds barred confrontation between Booker and Dieng. Both players got ejected for their part in the scuffle, and according to reports, the two even tried to get at each other in the locker rooms.

More importantly, though, the Wolves took care of business, and blew out the struggling Suns, 118-91. This was thanks in large part to Towns' big night, with the 23-year-old putting up a 25-point, 18-rebound double-double, along with two three-pointers, seven assists, two steals, and a block.

There is no word yet on the type of sanctions Booker and Dieng will be receiving for their actions, but it would not be surprising if fines and/or suspensions are applied.
