The Minnesota Timberwolves still want to upgrade their point guard position via the trade market, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Timberwolves are currently starting veteran guard Jeff Teague. He's on the final season of his three-year, $55 million deal.

Minnesota tried to acquire All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell this summer, but the Golden State Warriors were able to get a deal done for Russell in the sign-and-trade agreement involving Kevin Durant.

“They would love to get a point guard,” Wojnarowski said on The Woj Pod. “They want to be a playoff team. I think they would love to upgrade that point guard position. If there's available point guards out there, they'll be (an interested) team.

“They tried to get D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade situation. You watch some of the other point guards who might become available this year, they'll want to become involved there.”

The Timberwolves are 3-0 on the young season. They have wins over the Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat. Star Karl-Anthony Towns has been a monster and won the Western Conference Player of the Week award for week 1 of the season.

Teague is averaging 13.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists through the Timberwolves' first three games. He's shooting 55.0 percent from the field, just 16.7 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.
