Denver Nuggets point guard Isaiah Thomas says Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose is one of the most special superstars in the world and he's happy the former MVP is playing well this season.

Thomas and Rose were teammates last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and developed a close friendship:

Thomas and Rose have a lot in common. Both were at the top of the world at one point during their NBA careers, but then injuries plagued both of them and changed their careers.

Since becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history back in 2011 with the Chicago Bulls, Rose has suffered four knee injuries, all which have required surgery. Thomas never won an MVP award, but he was in the discussion for the award during the 2016-17 season with the Boston Celtics when he averaged 28.9 points per game.  A serious hip injury, however, changed Thomas' career forever and he underwent arthroscopic hip surgery last year.

This season with the Timberwolves, Derrick Rose has had a resurgence, as he's averaging 18.2 points per game and shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc. Isaiah Thomas is looking to do the same thing as Rose with the Denver Nuggets, as the two-time All-Star is back from his hip rehab and will play in his second game of the season on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.
