Everyone knows that Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns had a special relationship with his mom, Jacqueline Cruz. KAT lost his mom, as well as a few other members of his family this past year due to COVID-19 which had the 25-year-old reminiscing on his childhood days. Growing up in Edison, New Jersey, Towns was a huge New York Yankees fan and as a young boy, the Wolves star remembered how much he wanted to get his hands on an Alex Rodriguez jersey, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

It's been a tough year for the Wolves, especially for the young All-Star. Aside from losing a total of seven family members due to the deadly virus, Towns too had to battle through the virus himself after contracting COVID-19 earlier this year which sidelined him for almost an entire month.

Since coming back, Towns has been balling out for the Timberwolves and has used all the adversity of this past year as fuel for him to be a better player and a human being. KAT is averaging 24.9 points with 11.1 boards and 4.5 assists in 33 games for Minnesota this year. Unfortunately for KAT, the Wolves have the worst record in the Western Conference at 14-40.

Jacqueline's memory lives on through Towns and you better believe that he's playing every minute out there on the floor with his mom in his heart.

Hmm, that's weird. Someone's chopping onions nearby.
