The Minnesota Timberwolves are headed toward new ownership, as MLB icon Alex Rodriguez and billionaire tech investor Marc Lore reached an agreement with long-time Wolves owner Glen Taylor earlier this month.

With new ownership obviously comes potential changes incoming, which raises speculations such as the Timberwolves possibly relocating to another city.

But Taylor was vocal to dispel any notions of such a move, per a report from The Star Tribune.

“We have it in the contract, they have signed the contract to do that,” the long-time Timberwolves owner in Taylor said.

However, it may be difficult to enforce such a guarantee, depending on the language and how punitive the actual clause is in the said contract. But Taylor is confident that the Timberwolves aren't going anywhere. Not just because of the legal guarantee, but also since the NBA itself doesn't want to see such a move happen.

“The real agreement is with the NBA. The NBA will make the decision if somebody's going to move or not move,” Taylor said. “The NBA will not approve of the Timberwolves moving from here to Seattle. It's in the NBA's interest that in Seattle, that a new team is formed. It's an economic decision that's in the interest of all of the owners.”

There has been some speculation for a move out of Minneapolis every so often over the years, especially with the Timberwolves struggling to find success on the basketball side of things. But all signs point to the team staying for the foreseeable future. For TWolves fans, let's hope that future translates to a better product on the playing court.
