To say Alec Burks is excited about joining the Golden State Warriors would be an understatement.

Burks, who signed a one-year, $2.32 million contract with the Warriors, says this is the first time in his career he's joining a franchise with a winning tradition. The guard began his NBA career with the Utah Jazz and has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings as well.

“I don’t think I’ve been part of a winning part of this tradition like this before,” Burks said, via the Mercury News. “Utah was known for winning before I got there, but they were just starting to get back up. So just coming here with championship aspirations is different. It should be fun.”

This past season with the Jazz, Cavs and Kings, Alec Burks averaged 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from beyond the arc and 82.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Since Warriors All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson is going to be out for majority of the 2019-20 season recovering from his left ACL tear, Golden State will need Burks to be a microwave scorer off the bench.

Burks will be in the national spotlight now that he's on the Warriors. It's a good opportunity for the 27-year-old to show the casual basketball fan what he's capable of doing on a winning team.
