With the All-Star Game on the horizon, the untelevised drafting of the teams panned Kevin Durant as the first overall pick by LeBron James, leaving Stephen Curry with teammates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on his squad.

Due to much hoopla surrounding the pecking order of these All-Star selections, Melissa Rohlin of the San Jose Mercury News asked Durant who he would pick with the first pick if he were a team captain.

Unsurprisingly, he picked Stephen Curry as his choice.

Rohlin: “Who would you pick between Steph or LeBron?”

Durant: “Steph, probably. I'd love to play with LeBron, but I see Steph every day, so that makes it an easy choice.”

While this seems rather commonplace for two teammates, it's unlikely that James picked his teammate Kevin Love with that first overall pick and with other promising talents like James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and even former partner-in-crime Russell Westbrook — being picked with the first selection is quite the honor.

Just look at his post-game response, if there's any doubt.

This new All-Star Game format will switch things up in a major way, giving a very different look to what fans are accustomed, and for once put some bragging rights between the captains as part of the entertainment factor, and hopefully competitiveness.

Either James or Durant will have to play out of position, since unlike an actual fantasy draft, James picked a starter that plays the same position than he does.

Only time will tell which team will have the edge.
