Producing movies and television shows seem to be the new trend among NBA superstars, especially LeBron James, and Stephen Curry is getting involved with the production of a faith-based film, according to Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter. Curry is producing the film, “Breakthrough,” which is based on a Joyce Smith novel bearing the same name.

The story is about Smith's 14-year-old son, John, who fell through the ice and was presumed dead. But John was still very much alive and he miraculously lived.

“John's story is nothing short of incredible,” said Curry in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “It's a story about the power of prayer and perseverance and one I immediately connected to. After reading the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life onscreen.”

This latest project seems to be the perfect fit for Curry's vision for the future of his new media company, Unanimous Media. Curry is serious about his faith and Unanimous Media hopes to promote faith-based and family-friendly projects, per Joe Marusak of the Charlotte Observer.

Fans will have to wait until April 2019 for this film, but they can watch Stephen Curry put on a show on the court right now. The Warriors got the season off on the right foot with a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. They're questing for the elusive three-peat and should be one of the most fun teams to watch on a nightly basis — as usual.
