One of the biggest storylines that have come out of late is the saga involving Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and former player Kevin Durant. KD clapped back at Kerr for the comments the latter made on Monday, and right now, coach Kerr has called out the media for what he deems to be “unfair reporting.”

Kerr absolutely blasted NBC Sports' Drew Schiller, who was the man behind what Kerr believes to be a misconstruing of his statement:

“That is the furthest thing from the truth,” Kerr said, via Mark Haynes of ClutchPoints. “It was a terribly unfair shot. Completely taking something out of context to the point where people are going to read it and think that that was my quote. … But to take that comment and put it into a tweet and send it out to the universe was so irresponsible and damaging. And I'm angry.”

For those that require context, Kerr recently went on a podcast where he said that he enjoyed last season more than he did the 2018-19 campaign, wherein the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors in the Finals. He did not mention KD in his statement, but Shiller's interpretation was that Durant played a key role as to why Kerr wasn't very happy during the 2018-19 season. That also happened to be Durant's final year in Golden State.

For his part, KD caught wind of the comments and decided to respond on Twitter, saying that “this is hilarious.”.

Kerr then went on to share how he continues to hold Durant in very high regard, as do the Warriors organization:

“It's ridiculous. You guys know this. We are so thankful for everything that's happened over the years here. Throughout our run we've had so many great moments, great players and Kevin is celebrated here. You guys all know that. He had an amazing run. We absolutely wish him well. We've done that from the start and that's why I'm so angry about this because this is complete BS.”

Coach Kerr clearly feels that his words were twisted in order to create tension between himself and Durant. He has called out the irresponsible reporting and he did not hold back with his comments. Steve Kerr is one of the friendliest coaches to the media, but even he has his limits.
