The San Francisco Dons are probably in the NCAA Tournament, though college basketball odds analysts and West Coast Conference Tournament experts would acknowledge that if USF can beat Gonzaga, it will remove any and all doubt from the equation. When thinking about a San Francico Gonzaga prediction, realize that San Francisco — which has lost twice to Gonzaga this season — will have a chance to cement its place in the NCAA Tournament. The Dons are coming off a strong performance in the WCC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday against BYU. San Francisco realized BYU was not shooting 3-pointers well, so it focused on packing the paint and making sure BYU could not get to the basket. Coach Todd Golden has elevated the San Francisco program since taking the job a few years ago. The Dons have an electric backcourt, and when opponents can't shoot well, USF's offensive firepower puts it at a distinct advantage.

The obvious problem for San Francisco, despite its potent offense, is that Gonzaga has the best offense in the country by many measurements. Mark Few has developed an offensive juggernaut in Spokane in each of the last two seasons. What the Zags had last year with Corey Kispert and Jalen Suggs on the roster has been replaced this year with super freshman Chet Holmgren on the team. Some of the faces are the same, particularly Drew Timme, but each year's team is a different mixture, and Gonzaga hasn't really lost stride. The 2021 team was and is better than the 2022 group, but the 2022 team is still on pace to be a No. 1 seed and a frontline Final Four contender. Remember that when making a San Francisco Gonzaga pick.

Why San Francisco Could Cover the Spread

The Dons have a high-powered offense with their dynamic backcourt duo of Khalil Shabazz and Jamaree Bouyea. If they both go off, San Francisco will be able to play a high-scoring track meet. The Dons are unlikely to stop Gonzaga's offense, but if Shabazz and Bouyea are both playing at their very best, and they get enough help from the supporting cast, USF could score 90 points and cover what is a large spread.

Why Gonzaga Could Cover the Spread

The Zags enter this game after losing to Saint Mary's on the last Saturday of February. They have had a week to practice, rest, regroup, and consider all the things they did poorly against SMC. Does anyone think Gonzaga will play two consecutive bad ballgames? If Gonzaga plays well, no one else in the West Coast Conference can keep pace with Mark Few's team. It will cover easily.

Final San Francisco-Gonzaga Prediction & Pick

The fact that Gonzaga is coming off a loss, and is therefore highly unlikely to play two straight bad games, is the worst possible situation for San Francisco. Gonzaga will play well. That means Gonzaga will win big.

Final San Francisco-Gonzaga Pick: Gonzaga -14
