The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lost their two most important players from last year's NCAA Tournament team, Moses Wright and Jose Alvarado. Without them, Georgia Tech has been lost at sea this season, as college basketball odds analysts and ACC Tournament experts would agree. Georgia Tech's main problem is that it doesn't have many scoring options. The book on Georgia Tech is that if a defense can contain Michael Devoe, the Yellow Jackets are in deep trouble, because they have had a very tough time cultivating reliable second and third scorers under head coach Josh Pastner. When thinking about a Georgia Tech Louisville prediction, the main reason to lean to the Cardinals is that the Jackets have very profound limitations at the offensive end of the floor. Georgia Tech has lost a lot of close games, and that comes down to not having reliable options at the end of a game. Opponents have either taken the ball out of Devoe's hands or have sent their best defenders at him, which makes life a lot harder for him. The Yellow Jackets have lacked the Plan B which would make them so much more effective. With Wright and Alvarado one year ago, the Jackets had the depth and balance this year's team has lacked.

When thinking about a Georgia Tech Louisville pick, the mediocrity of the Yellow Jackets is counterbalanced by Louisville's lack of fight. The Cardinals have not shown a lot of backbone under an interim coaching staff after Chris Mack was fired in the middle of the season. Mike Pegues has tried to light a fire under his team, but it just hasn't worked. Louisville has been decisively defeated by a series of opponents. Games played away from home have largely been disastrous under Pegues. This shows how poorly Chris Mack built this roster and shaped this team. This isn't a sinking ship; it's a ship which is already at the bottom of the ocean and needs to be lifted up by the next permanent head coach who will be hired in the coming weeks. The Georgia Tech-Louisville odds are close because neither team merits any real trust at this point.

Why Georgia Tech Could Cover the Spread

The Louisville Cardinals have packed it in for the season and want to move on to the following season with a new head coach. Louisville will not be motivated to play this game.

Why Louisville Could Cover the Spread

The Georgia Tech offense often dies and fails to find any sort of revival once everything goes south. Georgia Tech is limited enough on offense for Louisville to take advantage.

Final Georgia Tech-Louisville Prediction & Pick

The Louisville Cardinals are ready to go home, in more ways than one. Georgia Tech will play with more passion and will ultimately win.

Final Georgia Tech-Louisville Pick: Georgia Tech +1.5
