Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal spoke at length about his backcourt mate John Wall on the heels of incessant trade rumors during this standby period.

The NBA's second-league scorer noted he and Wall have been close through the years, perhaps even more than most realized. As a guest of HBO's All The Smoke, Beal explained how the two first got to know each other:

“I knew John in high school,” said Beal. “He was in college about to get up and out of there, one and done. So we basically met my last year playing AAU ball, my junior year. He came out to LA back where we were playing and watched me play, watched other guys play and we exchanged numbers and we were cool since then and it's been amazing.

Two years later, here I am — boom, drafted by the Washington Wizards. So we just took it from there. He has always been a big brother figure for me and it's been the same since then. We've just constantly grown, we've both matured and that's my big brother, man. Still to this day.”

Beal's agent has denied the recent trade rumors and Wall has come out to say he's 110% healthy, but chances are he won't be playing at all this season.

Beal signed a two-year extension this past offseason while Wall is in the first year of a five-year supermax extension — one that looks worse by the minute after the All-Star guard sustained a myriad of injuries in the past few years.

Wall could be away from the game for nearly two whole years by the time he returns, as he's yet to take the floor since Jan. 2019. However, it's good to know the backcourt duo will be tight-knit once the two can hit the hardwood together again.
