The Washington Wizards have a big week coming up as they have the chance to select the best player in the NBA Draft with the No. 1 pick. Outside of that, they also have to worry about their own players, as Trae Young recently opted out of his $49 million contract. Young is now a free agent, and the rumors immediately started to float that he would be looking to possibly sign with another team.

Those rumors have been shut down by several insiders already, and the plan is that Young re-signs with the Wizards.

“Rumors of Trae looking elsewhere have been described by sources as ‘nonsense,'” Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

On ESPN's Get Up, Brian Windsorst noted that a three-year deal is likely on the table for Young to return to nation's capial.

“When Trae Young was traded in January, it came with the understanding that he would opt out of his contract,” Windhorst said. “It also came with the understanding that he wouldn't play for the rest of the season. …He may take a meeting or two, just for appearances sake. He's going to re-sign with the Wizards, likely on a three-year, very large contract.”

This has been the expectation since Young was traded to the Wizards, and it was probably one of the many reasons why the point guard had them as one of his options.

The Wizards have a nice, young core, and adding another piece with the No. 1 pick is only going to make it better. They also have Anthony Davis, another veteran who can help the team grow.
