The New York Yankees and New York Mets are both having strong seasons. The two New York baseball teams haven't met in a World Series in over 20 years… but that could change in 2022. Fanduel has the Yankees individual odds set at +300 and the Mets at +700. But it lists the odds of the Yankees and Mets meeting in the Fall Classic at +900. That would lead to a hefty payout if the bet were to cash.
Now there are a number of quality teams capable of winning their respective pennants. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the biggest threat to the Mets in the National League. The Houston Astros are the Yankees' biggest threat.
So is this bet worth taking a chance on?
The Yankees currently hold the the best record in MLB. They hold a comfortable 13-game lead in the AL East and seem destined to win the division.
The Mets are in first place in the NL East, but their lead isn't quite as convincing. The Mets hold a 2.5 game over the Atlanta Braves at the moment. However, this is a team that has been without baseball's best pitcher all season long. Jacob deGrom's impending return from the injured list will greatly enhance their World Series chances.
From a non-betting perspective, simply watching a Mets-Yankees Fall Classic would be electric. But taking a chance on the Mets and Yankees to meet in the 2022 World Series at +900 might just be worth the risk.
