The New York Yankees could be looking to make a big move ahead of the MLB trade deadline this year. At the time of this writing, the Yankees are leading the American League East division nine games over the Tampa Bay Rays. One MLB analyst thinks the Yankees could take a look at Cleveland Indiana starting pitcher Trevor Bauer.

Jacob Shafer of Bleacher Report predicted that Bauer will end up getting dealt to the Yankees ahead of the deadline.

Yet they need to boost their offense, particularly in the outfield. On Saturday, Terry Pluto of the Plain Dealer speculated Bauer is “likely to be traded by the end of the month.”

If the Yankees offered talented young outfielder Clint Frazier (a Cleveland draft pick in 2013) plus an ancillary chip or two, this might be a roller skate-meets-key match.

Bauer would be a massive addition for the Yankees. He has had a solid all-around year with the Indians and has true superstar potential for the future. In addition to those facts, he will enter arbitration after this season, which could mean he ends up returning to New York for another season.

During the 2019 season thus far with Cleveland, Bauer has posted a 9-7 record in 22 starts to go along with a 3.67 ERA and 170 strikeouts. He is 28 years old, in his prime, and ready to compete with a World Series caliber team.

New York needs to make a move to bolster their rotation. They have some talent in Masahiro Tanaka, C.C. Sabathia, and Domingo German, but they need to add another option behind them.

The trade deadline is closing in and it will be interesting to see if the Indians end up moving Bauer. Keep an eye on the Yankees should they choose to trade him.
