Roy Jones Jr. is certain Oleksandr Usyk's problem with a potential fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will not be inside the ring.

Boxing just got even wilder after multi-division champion Canelo Alvarez expressed his interest to moving up to cruiserweight. Reigning WBA, WBF, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, meanwhile, is flirting with the idea of facing Canelo in the aforementioned weight class.

Weighing in on the potential super fight, former super middleweight and cruiserweight champ Roy Jones Jr. predicted that Usyk will easily beat Canelo.

“To me, Usyk is too big for Canelo,” Jones said via Boxing Scene. “Uysk beats Canelo easy, in my opinion.”

However, Jones added that no matter how interesting a fight against Canelo is at the moment, Usyk should not drop down to cruiserweight for it as it could be a major risk for his heavyweight run.

“Why would you [go back down to cruiserweight to fight Alvarez] when you have Tyson Furys, Deontay Wilders, Anthony Joshuas? You’ve got so many big guys in the weight class where you are champion right now that it makes no sense unless you’re making way more money fighting [Alvarez], which you’re not,” Jones added. “Usyk versus Fury right now is probably one of the biggest fights on the planet. Usyk versus Joshua is another big fight.”

“I think it’s all about a business decision,” he continued. “If there’ s more money you can make fighting somebody else, then ok. But why would you sacrifice by gambling on getting beat because you lost the weight when all you have to do is stay where you at and dominate?”

As it stands, Usyk is heavily linked to a much-awaited heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury. Alvarez, on the other hand, is being tipped by his promoter to dominate the light heavyweight division first.
