We rarely hear stories about our favorite athletes outside their respective fields. Sometimes we hear stories about their big-time charity events, their parties with fellow athletes and celebrities. But little do we hear little narratives about who they are as a person.

Recently, Alicia Jessop of RulingSports shared her LeBron James story:

While James himself has not confirmed this story, it's pretty easy to believe. James is a true gentleman off the court. Not only does the Cleveland Cavaliers star perform well on the court, he exhibits class when dealing with other people as well.

Perhaps Jessop's story was triggered by the recent controversy about James' on-air interview regarding the death of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich's wife, Erin.

To recall, James almost seemingly broke down while being asked to comment on the sad news. Those who saw the interview were quick to criticize the reporter, Allie LaForce, for not giving James the heads up before going live.

Yet right after the interview, James cleared up the notion via UNINTERRUPTED and said in part:

I was made aware through some friends through texts that a question was asked to me postgame, and a lot of people feel I was blindsided. That is absolutely false. Allie LaForce told me that she was going to ask the question and if it was OK.

And once I started talking about it, once we were on air, actually my emotions kind of took over. And that was just my emotions coming straight from my heart about the late Erin Popovich.

And also guys, please get off Allie LaForce’ back, because she followed the proper protocol and she warned me.

A family guy. A gentleman. A true class act.
