In the NBA, it is extremely rare for the top two teams in the Eastern Conference to make a blockbuster trade. After playing against each other in the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics acquired Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and a 2018 first round draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets.
Following the 102-92 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Irving was headed to the locker room where he had an NSFW response to a fan according to Barstool Sports:
It has not been an easy start to the 2017-18 NBA season for the Celtics. After losing Gordon Hayward to a gruesome injury minutes into the season opener against the Cavaliers, numerous players like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, and Marcus Smart have all had to step up in the All-Star's absence.
After being considered the favorites to dethrone James and the Cavaliers from making their four consecutive NBA Finals appearance, it will be on Irving to not only be the team's first scoring option, but leader. However, it appears Irving has been waiting for an opportunity like this after requesting a trade.
