The Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a much-anticipated Week 12 matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. Ahead of his upcoming bout with Brady, Mahomes says that he has some work to do to be mentioned in the same breath as Brady.
Via Nate Taylor of The Athletic:
“I don’t know if I’m on his level yet,” Mahomes said. “He’s someone that’s a global star. For me, I just try to be myself and put in the work and try to win games. All that other stuff kind of comes with it. I just try to be a normal guy and live it up with my teammates and have fun doing it.”
Brady, who's in his 21st season in the NFL, is still playing at a mostly high level for the Buccaneers despite some struggles in certain games. The six-time Super Bowl champion is regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time and has been a popular figure across the world for years.
On the other hand, Mahomes has quickly been taking the NFL by storm with his exciting play from under center. Mahomes won MVP in 2018 and the Super Bowl last season, becoming the new face of the league in the process.
There's no doubt that we may be witnessing the most talented player to play the quarterback position in Patrick Mahomes. But the gunslinger believes he has some catching up to do when it comes to accomplishments and his status off the field.
