The Trevor Bauer saga continues as the controversial Dodgers pitcher is reportedly filing a lawsuit against the woman who accused him of sexual assault. Bauer and his representation are claiming defamation in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit states the following:

“She wanted to destroy Mr. Bauer’s reputation and baseball career, garner attention for herself, and extract millions of dollars from Mr. Bauer.”

He and the woman met through social media and began spending time together. The woman later accused Bauer of sexual assault. Her request for a restraining order against him was not accepted.

Bauer was proven not guilty earlier this year. Bauer and his team have labeled the accuser's claims as “baseless.” He has also filed defamation lawsuits against multiple media outlets. Despite the charges being dropped, Trevor Bauer is doing everything he can to clear his name.

The former NL Cy Young winner is currently on administrative leave from baseball. He has not pitched in a game since last June.

Bauer signed a 3-year, $102 million dollar contract with the Dodgers after winning the NL Cy Young award in 2020. The deal included an opt-out clause after the first and second seasons. He likely will not utilize those clauses given that he has not pitched in an MLB game in almost a year.

Trevor Bauer's MLB future is unclear as of this moment. It is conceivable that he returns soon and becomes an important part of the Dodger's rotation. It is also possible that he never throws a pitch as a member of the Dodgers again.

Only time will tell. For now, Bauer is focused on clearing his name.
