Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark got into it with veteran Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner in a heated juncture of Monday night's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During a Mercury possession, Clark was caught in a mismatch against the much bigger Bonner, as the two tried to battle for position just outside the shaded area.

Clark didn’t seem to appreciate the extra motion from Bonner after a foul was called, and it later resulted in a series of technical fouls issued to multiple players, including the former Iowa Hawkeyes star, who couldn’t believe she was assessed a tech.

A disgruntled Clark tried to get an explanation for his technical foul, charging at the ref, confused at what just happened.

Adding drama to it all is the fact that Caitlin Clark and Bonner used to be teammates. Bonner played nine games with the Fever before getting waived. She later signed with the Mercury and has played for them since.

Clark and Bonner may have simply been carried away by the heat of the action.

The Fever entered the game looking to get back to their winning ways after consecutive losses to Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, while the Mercury started the day aiming to win their second game in a row following a recent four-game slump. Bonner and the Mercury were also behind at the time of the skirmishes

At the end of the day, the Fever got the win to the tune of an 86-77 score, with Clark pacing Indiana with 24 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the field to go with nine assists.
