After a successful qualifying session, Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas is confident that he can perform well in Formula 1's Mexican Grand Prix.

As Red Bull underperformed in the qualifying session, Mercedes looks to take advantage of garnering the front row for the race. Bottas seems optimistic about his chances of winning the race.

“I’ll enjoy this pole for a bit and then switch my mind for tomorrow, we need to speak with Lewis how we can maintain the lead as a team and keep the Red Bulls behind.

“You never know what the race situation will be. I’m 100% sure there could be a circumstance I can still win the race and I believe in that, I hope for that. But if not, then I will support Lewis and get the maximum points for us as a team.”

Bottas, who is set to lose his Mercedes seat to George Russell next season, continues to perform well during his farewell tour. The fin also shed some light on how the Formula 1 team was able to come out on top despite falling behind Red Bull during the practice sessions.

“I think everything came together even better than I was expecting. I definitely surprised myself and the team was as well a bit surprised that we were actually one-two because we seemed a bit off in FP3.

“A really rewarding feeling that all the changes we made were in the right direction, and we remained calm and tried to execute the best we can out of the car, and it worked.”

With just five races to go, Mercedes aims to maintain its 23-point lead over Red Bull in the constructor standings. Meanwhile, Bottas' teammate, Lewis Hamilton is 12 points behind his Rival, Max Verstappen, in the Formula 1 driver standings— trying to win his eighth championship.
