Atlanta Hawks forward Vince Carter made just two baskets in Tuesday night’s 113-102 loss at home to the Charlotte Hornets, but those were all he needed to displace Los Angeles Lakers legend and Hall of Famer Jerry West at the 21st spot on the NBA’s all-time field goals made list.

Here’s Carter’s bucket in the fourth quarter of the Charlotte game that broke his brief tie with West, who ended his stellar NBA career with 9,016 field goals made.

Vince Carter finished the game with seven points on 2-for-6 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. He also had a rebound, and assist, and a pair of steals to show in the 23 minutes he spent on the floor.

The basket that tied him with West on the all-time field goals made list was more highlight-worthy, though, as he spun at the post to leave Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb before taking off for a vintage Carter throwdown.

It’s worth noting, however, that it took Carter 1,414 games to get to tie and break West’s 9,016 mark, while the latter only needed 932 games to collect all his buckets.

Carter is now sitting next to Houston Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony, who is currently 20th on the list with 9,136 career baskets.
