They say Father Time is undefeated, but that’s not going to stop Atlanta Hawks veteran forward Vince Carter from trying to pick up a fight with him.

In the first quarter of Tuesday’s home game against the visiting Charlotte Hornets, the former NBA Slam Dunk champion proved that he still has enough juice in his quads to embarrass defenders who foolishly think that a 41-year-old basketball senior citizen is incapable of elevating. Hornets shooting guard Jeremy Lamb found that one out the hard way when Carter left him with a nifty spin move before finishing at the rim with a dunk.

It’s not exactly the type of throwdown that we’re certain would make it to the Top 10 Plays of the Day, but again, that’s a 41-year-old dude leaving a much younger defender in the dust and rising up for a clock-rewinding slam.

Vince Carter is not going to win that elusive Larry O’Brien Trophy with this Hawks squad, but his presence and undying love for the game should inspire Trae Young and company to try harder every day.

If this is Carter’s last season in the NBA, then basketball fans should learn to cherish every highlight Half-Man, Half-Amazing does on the basketball court.

Vince Carter forever.
