After a slow start to the season, the Kanas City Chiefs find themselves with a 2-2 record and somehow at the bottom of the AFC West. Even so, they look to prove themselves against a dangerous Buffalo Bills team. It's time to continue our NFL predictions series with a Chiefs Week 5 prediction.

The defense has become a liability for the Chiefs. They'll have to show big improvements if they hope to defeat the Bills on Sunday. This game has the makings to be a shootout, however, Kansas City could surprise the league if their defense contains Buffalo's high-powered passing attack.

Patrick Mahomes has a chance to separate himself as the best quarterback in the league. To do that, he'll have to outperform Josh Allen on Sunday night. Additionally, Kansas City will want to see consistency out of Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Travis Kelce will aim to bounce back after having a quiet outing in Week 4. With that said, here are four bold Chiefs Week 5 predictions against the Bills.

Chiefs Week 5 Predictions

4. Chiefs defense surprisingly slows down the Bills passing attack

The Buffalo Bills have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL. To slow them down, the Chiefs will have to come together to essentially pitch a perfect game. The first step is to get the pass rush in Josh Allen's face to bother him while dropping back to throw. Additionally, the secondary must play at an elite level on Sunday night. If they can do that, the Chiefs defense will have a fighting chance.

3. Patrick Mahomes proves he's the best quarterback in the NFL

He's already regarded as such, but many believe Josh Allen is ranked right there with Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs superstar quarterback could place himself a tier ahead of Allen if he puts together an amazing performance. Buffalo's defense has been sturdy the last few weeks, so Mahomes will have to be at his best in this matchup.

Mahomes seems to light it up when he's on the NFL's center stage. For that reason, we should see him spread the ball around and lead his team to a huge win over the Bills. If he can do that, the Chiefs will be right back in the mix as they chase down their division rivals.

2. Clyde Edwards-Helaire continues his current hot streak

After an abysmal performance in Week 2, Clyde Edwards-Helaire has bounced back in a big way. He's given the Chiefs' run game new life, which has helped balance the offensive attack. To defeat the Bills, Edwards-Helaire must continue playing well. A great performance out of Clyde Edwards-Helaire will give Kansas City a huge advantage on Sunday Night Football.

1. Travis Kelce bounces back with a massive performance

We typically don't see Travis Kelce struggle, but he did in Week 4. He got lost in the shuffle somehow while Tyreek Hill erupted with a huge game. It'll be interesting to see how Kelce responds, but he should play a vital role on Sunday.

He's the best tight end in the NFL and he has unique chemistry built with Patrick Mahomes. Although Buffalo's defense has looked fantastic lately, Travis Kelce might be too much for them to handle. We'll see how it plays out, but a massive performance out of Kelce is expected.
